In 1956, an unknown Detroit street musician called Sam Wilson, nicknamed "One String" Sam  walked into Joe’s Record Shop on Hastings Street, Detroit, carrying a plank of wood containing a single string and proceeded to record two songs on his so-called diddley bow, “I Need a Hundred Dollars” and “My Baby Ooh.”.
