Dunno what the title is all about but it’s what’s in the grooves that counts! This here is both sides of a 45 originally released in 1970 on Bell Records - but soooo hard to find! And both sides rock!
Dubbed "the father of jazz flute" by jazz critic Leonard Feather, Sam Most is best known as a flutist, although he started with clarinet and also does tenor sax. In a career extending more than fifty years, he has worked with artists as cool as Buddy Rich, Herbie Mann, Paul Quinichette, Joe Farrell and George Benson. Sam is well known in the LA area as a studio musician, but has been largely overlooked and under-recorded under his own name. This is a sin cos a better 45 with better instrumental grooviness is near impossible to find! What a shame he didn’t do more.
Plop Plop Boom is the catchy one with a cheeky flute lead, wicked piano stabs and an irresistible dancefloor feel. And the uptempo latin-flavoured Jungle Fantasy is the same – but are your feet are fast enough?!
