Killer golden hip hop from 93!  In those golden days, there were plenty of rich pickings in the hip hop pile every week - so many poeple missed this!  On Chemistry Records with DiamonD on production duties, this is everything you'd want a lost golden age piece to be - funky, tough, heavy with well delivered concious lyrics.  All hip hop heads check!

Talbot : Amo El Funk
spain : Enlace Funk
7" = £7.49 Normally in stock
Nice funk beats from Spain.  An adaption of Luke Vibert's "I Love Acid" for the title track - a hypnotising loop with a great live sound.  A little mellower on the flip - all definitely worth a check!

Octopus : Opus no 1
spain : Enlace Funk

Funk beats for the floor.  Fresh out of Spain, Octopus deliver a solid sound with driving beats.  Definitely geared more towards dancefloor plays, both sides are heavy on the beats and the bass - check!

Afro Soul Toasting All Stars : Be A Looser
spain : Enlace Funk
7" = £7.49 Normally in stock
Afro jazz vocal.  On the rapidly increasing Enlace Funk lable from Spain, This has a very live feel to the production, which maintains the 60's style without losing punch.  Real stretched out track on the flip, less beats more jazz.  Check!

Lloyd Parks : Officially
Jam : Joe Gibbs
7" = £3.49 Normally in stock
Another rolling rockers riddim from Joe Gibbs! Lloyd Parks croons over this excellently put together production, Joe Gibbs must have been one of the first to put a mouth organ on a reggae tune, big! Lloyd isn't having it unless its official. Original lovers rock styles, Listen!!

Yellowman : The girl is mine
Jam : Dynamite
7" = £2.99 Out Of Stock
Two monsters of Jamaican of music team up here on the Come on Little Girl riddim!! Yellowman and Peter Metro argue about a lady's love and pull out a few familiar reggae melodies over this minamalist 80s riddim!! Guaranteed to get the dance moving, listen to the mix, full up of tricks!!

Its all about the Mighty Horace Swaby aka Augustus Pablo RIP, alongside Lloyd Young on the microphone!! This is an immediately addictive Lee Perry riddim re-released on a fresh new pressing from Black Art. Augustus blesses the riddim properly with his Melodica, whilst Lloyd Parks toasts pon it! Flip it for Upsetters on the same riddim; Pi a Ring. Original roots and culture biscuit!

Frankie Paul : Gwaan a school
Jam : Corner stone
7" = £3.49 Normally in stock

Frankie Dancehall Paul kills this murderous early 80s tune on the 'Rub a Dub Style' riddim. Frankie lays down the law with the youth and tells them to gwaan a school and learn their rule, and to stop their fussing and fighting. Frankie has it for clarity and style on rub a dub riddims like this. Tell dem Frankie!

Teddy Pendergrass : The More I get The More I Want (Classic NYC 12" Mix)
USA : East End
12" = £6.99 Normally in stock
Another Loft / Garage classic gets the East End treatment. Victor Rosado on the edit agin, and he stretches the classic soul disco of the original out over 12 minutes of instrumental disco bliss. For those that can't imagine this song without the vocal the original is included - how about two copies for a marathon disco session?

Bohannon : Let's Start The Dance (Classic NYC 12" Mix)
USA : East End
12" = £6.99 Normally in stock
More Victor Rosado classic NYC edits on the sneaky East End label. Here they tackle one of the biggest disco / proto-house number ever, Lets Start The Dance by Hamilton Bohannon. As well as the essential original you get a super extended edit with additional vocals, a tasty floor filler for the disco jocks.

Family Of Eve : I Want To Be Loved By You (Kenny Dope Mix)
USA : Kay-Dee
12" = £7.99 Normally in stock
More sper-rare soul funk given a dusting down by Kenny Dope. This track first came to wider attention when Keb Darge included it on his first Deep Funk album, and really does cross genres, being a soulful disco belter that funk DJs all over the world love. Here Mr Dope gets busy with three new versions, and the all important original too.

Pocketknife and Cousin Cole : Canyon dancing EP
USA : Flagrant Fowl
12" = £7.99 Normally in stock
In a sea of disco edit monotony, its good to hear something different on the rework tip. Coutesy of Brooklyn duo Pocketknife and Cousin Cole, this highly limited (550 only, hand numbered) 12" sees Silver Apples, Battles, Soft Circle, Patti Smith and Six Organs Of Admittance all get the treatment. Not for everyone, but if you like your beats left field or are feeling the new wave work of DFA, Free Blood etc, there is something for you here!

JMB featuring Phenom : Pick Up The Pace
USA : Magnificent
12" = £7.99 Normally in stock
More heavy hip hop soul from rising star JMB, Jamal Making Beats. Pick Up The Pace is head nod sheet like back in the day, think early Slum Village with the tasty rhyme skills of Phenom but its all about that soulful beat. Speaking of which the flip houses two more of Jamal's beat series. Ace hip hop from ChiSoul.

EccentricSoul : Young Disciples
usa : Numero
CD = £14.99 Normally in stock
More 60's soul rarieties on this superior comp.  Dug up like only the Eccentric Soul people can, this is an expose of the East St Louis scene in the mid-60's.  All taken from The Young Disciples Program - designed to keep kids off of the streets, the output is funky, soulful, hard but never amateurish.  Vocal arrangements show a lot of effort put into each part of the process - the production typical of mid-60's mid-America - hard and punchy.  Another excellent release from the Numero Group - with all the usual trimmings of excellent research and design.  These are already classic comps!

Yaw/ JMB : Where would you be/ Fever
USA : Chisoul
12" = £7.99 Normally in stock
Awesome four track sampler from the highly promising Chisoul label, soulful hip hop and jazz outta Chicago (as you may have guessed). First up an incredible spiritual jazz/soul cut from Yaw, entitled Where Would You Be. Not much dancefloor action, but if this was 40 years old the collectors would be doing backflips... Flip over for some ace next level future hip hop soul from JMB, produced by Jamal The Scientific and written by house legend Ron Trent taking a day off from the 4:4 beats. The EP is rounded off with two great beats from star of the future Jamal. Essential wax from the windy city.

Dr L Smith : Soul Sugar
Ja : Sugar Shack
7" = £6.49 Normally in stock
After releasing The Ritual on Macambo earlier this year, Dr L Smith and his Soul Sugar crew return to their supposedly Jamaican label Sugar Shack for Play It Back. Heavy midtempo funk drums, hammond, wah wah and soulful sax make up this solid funk nugget that will keep the dancers in place on the floor.

Binky Griptite : One Time You're Mine/ You're Gonna Cry
USA : Daptone
7" = £4.99 Normally in stock
Another solo outing from the leader of the Daptone horns, and the best named man in funk, Mr Binky Griptite. An ace soul cut and a powerful ballad make up this double A from the best funk label in the world.
