Resense : 008
: Resense
12" = £7.49 Normally in stock
UPFRONT TO FAT CITY!! On the 008 Resense put again four songs by four artists, and again no filler in sight. Sono Rhizmo´ used the vocals of the Mo´Horizons hit ‚So Ma Guisée´ and arranged it with a reggae beat – excellent result. Mr. Bas Lexter continues in his very own style – cut a long story short ! - and drops out his Bas Lexter hymn. A very spesial guest on Resense is Sunsetsoul presents DaWiesel. Big Hip Hop flavour with attitude ! and last but not least follows Viennas DJ Shantisan´s debut on Resense. ‚Bring Back The Bossa Rock´ doesn´t need any explanations. MASSIVE!

Greg Wilson : I was a teenage DJ pt1
: Reactivate
12" = £6.49 Normally in stock
Greg Wilson returns with another edit 12" chopping up Teenage DJ in a cut n paste breaks style. The real joy is the 80s boogie chop up of Missy Elliot's 'Work It'! Two contrasting sides but you know for a fact that both of these are gonna smash the dance!

Cro-Magnon : Mellow Out and Acoustic EP
Japan : Jazzy Sport
12" = £9.49 Normally in stock
Second of two EPs from Cro-Magnon featuring tracks from the Mellow Out and Acoustic CD, available on vinyl for the first time! Resense : 007
UK : Resense
12" = £7.49 Normally in stock
UPFRONT TO FAT CITY!! The Captain is in your extended network.The first six releases of Resense are completely sold out – just a few left in some stores around the world. Time for the next two releases: the 007 comes along with a smasher, you will never have expected. ‚We Will Rock You´ on Power Bossa !!! ‚You Can´t Hide´ on the other side, is not so obvious, but also a brillant track on the Resense series. Be quick, this one will run out very fast…

Unknown Vs Dawn Penn : No no no / Zion Road
UK : white
12" = £5.99 Normally in stock
Woah! The third week on the bounce that we've had a massive dubstep remix in! It was Max Romeo's 'Chase The Devil' a few weeks back, then Blak Twang's 'So Rotten' last week and now Dawn Penn's massive 'No No No'!! Filtered and looped, the original then gets some seriusly tough steppa beats over the top. Over on the flip is a more mellow and deep remix of 'Road To Zion' by Prince Far-I (I think...) which is also wicked! This will set the party off!!!

J Star : Extra Playa EP
: White
12" = £5.99 Normally in stock
HUGE!! A freshly delivered phat J-Star 12" finally unleashed! 'Dancehall Kings' is another J-Star that lines up Jamaica’s BIGGEST vocalists, posse cut style, against some of the biggest club joints to rinse the crowd! Beenie, Bounty, Sean and Jigsy battle out, but best is left till last as THE dancehall don reminds all who is who! All this over the instrumental to Mark Ronson's huge Boney M sampling 'Oooh Wee'! Over on the flip J Star uses vocals from Mr Vegas for 'Weed Anthem' and there's a tasty instrumental with 'One Life', but 'Dancehall Kings' is the one!! Massive!

Madlib : Beat Konducta Vol 5 - The Dil Cosby Suite
USA : Stones Throw
Vinyl Album = £12.99 Normally in stock
This is Volume 5 of Madlib's Beat Konducta series and it would be fair to say that he has surpassed all the rest here. Dil Crosby Suite is Madlib's tribute to the late J Dilla. The beats on here are simply incredible! 22 tracks (without names) brought to you on Stones Throw. Check out the delicious sound clips - highly recommended!!!

Unknown : Murderation / Trample
: White
12" = £6.49 Normally in stock
Another huge dubstep remix of a big reggae ting! Up on the A-side is a killer remix of Barrington Levy's 'Murderation'!! Massive! Added extra bass, big drums and an added vocal from Bounty Killer! Over on the flip it's another remix , this time of Michael Rose's Trample The Dragon! These are gonna fly out! BIIIIG!

Theo Parrish : Chemistry
USA : Sound Signature
12" = £8.99 Normally in stock
ACE soul cut from Theo Parrish and a stellar collection of friends, including Steve Spacek. For those that have though his recent output has been a little bit too left field, this slowly building soul burner should see you right, a future classic! Flip over for a new collaboration with Dummine Deporres (the guitar virtuoso with whom Theo made the 'Et Tu Brut' LP earlier this year), and Untitled One has already been described by one Mancunian star as 'Lights Down Low' part 2. Sick!

Illa J : Yancey Boys
USA : Delicious Vinyl
CD = £14.99 Normally in stock
Big new release on Delicious Vinyl!!! They don't release much new music these days, but they have come up with a bit of a corker here. Illa J is J Dilla's little brother, and before his death Dilla left Illa with some dope beats for sure. So we have 14 new tracks on 'Yancey Boys' all produced by Jay Dee. It's on a real soul/Hip Hop vibe, on a similar tip to Slum Village which fans are going to absolutely love. Essential for this week!!!

Jake One : Trap Door (fat MF Doom)/ The Truth (feat Freeway and Brother Ali)
USA : Rhymesayers
12" = £5.99 Normally in stock
Wo! Ridiculous 12" from Jake One, taken from the recent White Van Music LP. The A-side, 'Trap Door' features MF DOOM, who kills it as only DOOM can. Over on the flip there's the wicked 'The Truth' featuring Freeway and Brother Ali and the 12" also features the non-album bonus track 'Hurt U' featuring Kardinal Offishall and Pharoahe Monch! Recommended!!

Unknown : Chase the devil
: White
12" = £6.49 Normally in stock
Huge white label dubstep version of Max Romeo's 'Chase The Devil'!!! A massive Fat City tunes get updated in the dubstep ting. It is dangerous doing remixes of such seminal records, but this is pretty heavy! Ace!

Diplo : Diplo and Santogold Mix Cd
: Mad Decent
CD = £10.99 Normally in stock
Diplo meets Santogold in a dub chamber of remix special guest exclusive madness! This collaboration mix CD brings together the best of Diplo’s scatterbrained mixtape genius and Santogold’s perfectionist ear. They spent almost as much time on this thing as some people do on albums- getting together in the studio to record tracks, recruiting people for guest spots and remixes, going back and forth on what tracks to include – but it’s all worth it because this is a one in a million mixtape. HEAVY!

Flying Lotus : $tunt$ (6 Track EP)
UK : White
12" = £7.49 Normally in stock
STOP PRESS!  ULTRA LIMITED WHITE LABEL OF IN DEMAND FLYING LOTUS REWORKS; Okaay, first up the murderous Mr Oizo rework ‘Stunts’ which has torn many a Lotus crowd kicks things off followed by Flylo’s ill rework of Dilla’s Lightworks transforming the original into a neck snapping bomb.  R2D2 is one of Lotus sickest unreleased joints, taking things into deeper territories all the while retaining his swung-funk.  Flip for his Badman remix of Madvillain’s ‘Shadows of Tomorrow’, a warbling Danny Breaks style bassline simmers beneath razor crisp beats before the sun ra/herbie style pads soak into the mix; comes with the instrumental coz it’s pure sickness.  Finally flylo’s dutty mix of Timbaland’s ‘promiscuous’ is given an LA bump.  White label heavy vinyl playing at 45 fo that bass response. 500 copies for the world only, these will fly out so buy now or cry later..

Jake One : White Van Music
USA : Rhymesayers
CD = £12.99 Normally in stock
Double Album = £14.99 Normally in stock

NOW ON DOUBLE VINYL! Jake One has been busy providing some of the best beats for Hip Hop's elite, and here some of those artists re-pay him the favour and provide flows for his own! This is a seriously dope release with guest appearances from: Black Milk, Nottz, M.O.P, Freeway, Brother Ali, Little Brother Posdnous (De La Soul), Slug (Atmosphere), MF Doom, Young Buck, Busta Rhymes, Prodigy (Mobb Deep), Alchemist, Evidence (Dilated Peoples), Royce Da 5' 9", Elzhi (Slum Village), Casual (Souls of Mischief) and plenty more. This comes out on Atmosphere's 'Rhymesayers Entertainment' label and comes very highly recommended for this week!!!

Johnny Pate : You're starting to fast
USA : ABC
7" = £5.49 Normally in stock
Killer 7-inch from the master that is Johnny Pate!! Two tracks taken from two 1970s albums. The A-side 'You're Starting Too Fast' is taken from the 1970 LP 'Outrageous' and is not only a guaranteed head-nodder (to be deconstructed by today's producers), but also promises to raise the temperature on the dancefloor. From the aggressive flute intro to the high-end hammond work, it's close to a perfect arrangement of sounds that now seem lost in the computer age. The slightly more complex "You Can't Even Walk In The Park" calls in the classic 70's horns and swinging beat that revolutionized the musical era. So so so recommended!

Greyboy : 15 Years Of West Coast Cool
USA : Ubiquity
Double Album = £15.99 Normally in stock
CD = £12.99 Normally in stock
Fifteen years, 5 albums, and many singles after his debut release, Ubiquity release a “best of” which includes previously unreleased materials, hard to find mixes, and the tracks which made Greyboy famous as the originator of a new laid back, sunny, jazz and soul-inflicted West Coast sound. 15 Years of West Coast Cool includes appearances from Sharon Jones, Quantic, AG (of Showbiz and AG), Bart Davenport (of Honeycut), Shawn Lee, Nino Moschella, Jeremy Ellis and others! Big up!

DZ : What Your Won't Do For Love
USA : Slit Jockey
12" = £7.99 Normally in stock
GENIUS dubstep mash up of the Bobby Caldwell blue eyed soul classic! Now that is something that should not work, but this will smash up the dance.... Kicking off with the original two step soul, a few glitches appear - is the CD jumping? it gets madder, and madder, and then - BASS! heavyweight dubstep beats slap you in the chop and Windowlicker style edits start flying around, mental rave-step of the highest order! The flipside makes the connection between crunk and dubstep very well, and does some serious speaker damage but the A side wins hands down.

Max Romeo : Chase The Devil
Jamaica : Charmax Music
7" = £2.99 Normally in stock
At last! One of the biggest reggae tracks ever finally comes back into stock. Be quick! Fantastic reggae classic from Mr Romeo that you will all recognise - its been sampled loads (most recently by Jay Z, infamously butchered by the Prodigy) but is also an ace piece of music on its own.

Natural Resource : Negro League Baseball
USA : EKAPA RPM
12" = £6.99 Normally in stock
Class re-issue of the super-dope debut from Brooklyn threesome Natural Resource, that dropped in 1996 on an obscure NY label, and made heads nod in a relaxed fashion - the fellas in the shop here liked it so much they hooked up for some exclusicve gear for our own Heavy Loungin series. Serious jazzy neck snappin beats and a cool rhyme flow all you could ask for, an essential purchase for hip hop completists

Ocote Soul Sounds : La Reja (Nickodemus Afrolibre Remix)
USA : ESL
12" = £7.99 Normally in stock
Thivery Corporation ESL label bring us side project of the mighty Antibalas main man Martin Pena and Adrian Quesada. The mellow afrobeat originals are given some dancefloor poke coutesy of Nikodemus and some digital dub beats from Chico Man.

Erykah Badu : Honey (DJ Day mix)
France : White
7" = £5.49 Normally in stock
WOAH!! BIG BIG BIG! The mighty DJ Day has stepped up and delivered a devastating remix of Erykah Badu's 'Honey'! Sampling Little Beaver, Mary Jane Girls and Marvin Gaye's 'Heavy Love Affair', Day creates a beat that is the only one we've heard that matches the calibre of the original! Instrumental on the flip too, this is gonna be huuuuge!

Breakbeat Junkie : F.U.N.K.
UK : Good Groove
12" = £5.49 Normally in stock
Another huge Goodgroove release! The Artist Series showcasing the best Goodgroove artist are proving to be a big success, this is the third to be released and is one for the funk heads among you. The Breakbeat Junkie from Nottingham has funk flowing through his veins. He mixes original funk with with a big chunk of electro break dance & neat scratching to create a sound that rocks dancefloors. Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show are big fans, also the likes of All Good Funk Alliance, he has a wide appeal. Watch out for some big remixes from The Breakbeat Junkie this year.

Black Milk : Tronic
USA : Fat Beats
Double Album = £14.99 Normally in stock
CD = £13.99 Normally in stock
Black Milk is back with his second solo studio album. Previous album 'Popular Demand' was a massive hit on the underground, and his 'Caltroit' mixtape and 'The Set Up' with Fat Ray have both blown up too. So he is definately one of the most busy producers in Hip Hop today. This new release 'Tronic' finds Milk in fine form once again. Guests include Royce da 5' 9", Fat Ray, Sean Price, Pharoahe Monch and DJ Premier. The production is getting better and better each release and he is right on top of his game here. Very Highly Recommended!

Termanology : How We Rock (ft Bun B prod by DJ Premier)
USA : Nature Sounds
12" = £6.49 Normally in stock
This is a BIG single lifted from Termanology's 'Politics as usual' LP. A real club-banger produced by DJ Premier and featuring Bun-B. The B-side 'Please don't go' is produced by Nottz. Brought to you with clean, main and instrumental versions on the wicked Nature Sounds label.

Debtonate : Human race ep
: Funk weapons
12" = £4.49 Normally in stock
Fans of the All Good Funk Alliance LISTEN UP!! Eddie Noon and James Reid whom make up the group Debtonate and have a unique production style, we like that they takes simple elements and makes them elegant yet funky which keeps the tracks interesting all the way through. The title track "Human Race" is a 130bpm barrage of swinging breaks, chunky guitar, tons of interesting vocals and great filter work. This track just kills for peak-time sets and it´s one of those rare tracks that can match the high energy of the more banging electro stuff. The rest follow the similar suit but this will tear down any dancefloor!

Cosmo Baker : The Love Break 2
USA : The Rub
CD = £9.99 Normally in stock
A couple of years have passed since the original Love Break CD, and it's still one of our favourite ever soul mixes. Can Volume 2 measure up? Hell yeah! 29 tracks over an hour and a quarter, all classic soul selected with love and put together with aplomb - nothing fancy, no juggling of breaks here, just a classic late night seduction selection featuring the like sof Don Blackman, Jackson 5, Lyn Collins, The Three Degrees, Luther Ingrams etc etc etc...

Cosmo baker : Love break
USA : Cosmoibaker
CD = £9.99 Normally in stock
One of the key figures in the proliferation of Hip Hop and Soul music in New York and Philadelphia drops another flawless mix. Cosmo goes for the newly weds this time as he laces together some vintage romance moments from the likes of The Islet Brothers Gwen McCrae Milton Wright and Aretha Franklin. Cosmo's DJ pedigree is beyond question having cut his teeth alongside global superstars such as King Brit and The Roots. As a contemporary of fellow wax doctors Rich medina and Bobbito you know where this cat is coming from. His previous mix 45 Calibre funk really did the business and Love Break is no different. Not only is it the perfect Saturday night in soundtrack, the singletons amongst you can play spot the sample!

Universal Robot Band : Barely Breaking Even
USA : Moonglow
12" = £6.49 Normally in stock
Wicked disco funk from Leroy Burgess and Greg Carmichael. How good is this record? An ace tune, a much sampled break and now also the name of a fine record label! Jazz funk disco of the highest order - you need this!

Jazzanova feat Paul Randolph : Let me show ya
Ger : Verve
12" = £7.99 Normally in stock

Jazzanova release the first single from their long awaited new album 'Of All The Things.
Paul Randolph has an unbelievably soulful voice and here it is matched by a great song and great instrumentation (all live as well!) - just check the strings - sublime!
Soul music comes no better than this!

The Bacao Rhythm and Steel Band : P.I.M.P
Germany : Mocambo
7" = £4.99 Normally in stock
Oh my days! Mocambo step up their game even more some, with this killer new 7" from the Bacao Rhythm and Steel Band! After their wicked version of 'Look A Py-Py', this is probably the biggest thing they've done to date! This cover of 50 Cent's 'P.I.M.P' is funky as hell, with the main riff being played by the full steel band. Over on the flip there's a version, which incorporates more of the already present reggae influence. Resist this at your peril!

DJ Premier : Time 4 Change
USA : Year Round
CD = £9.99 Normally in stock
DJ Premier hits us with his new mixtape and this one has a bit of a political flavour. With the US Presidential Debate just around the corner, Premo wants the Hip Hop community to vote Obama. Not that we can help much from over here in the UK, but we can sit back and enjoy the master at work. 19 new and exclusive tracks for your listening pleasure.

Roots Manuva : Let the Spirit (12 Inch)
UK : Big Dada
12" = £4.49 Normally in stock
Remix package of the new Roots Manuva single 'Let the spirit' and he couldn't have chosen 2 hotter remixers to take the track. Hot Chip provide a really nice cut with an extended intro, while Toddla T & Ross Orton provide one for the dancefloor. The original comes included too. Pressed up on a nice limited edition white 12"! Essential.

Q-Tip : The Renaissance
USA : Motown
Double Album = £14.99 Normally in stock
CD = £14.99 Normally in stock
AT LONG LAST!! Q-Tip's ridiculously long overdue follow up to 1999's 'Amplified' lands! And it does not disappoint either! Twelve new tracks, all produced by Kamaal himself, apart from one, 'Move' which is produced by the late great J-Dilla! Standouts on here are 'Gettin' Up', 'Move', 'Official', 'Life Is Better' (which features Norah Jones) and 'Believe' which features D'Angelo. There's also collabs with Raphael Saadiq and Amanda Diva! Incredible stuff!

The P Brothers : The Gas
USA : Heavy Bronx
CD = £11.99 Normally in stock
Big Big Big release from Nottingham's finest - The P Brothers! For this album they are working with all American MC's, which is a bit of a shame in one way because there are plenty of wicked artists in Nott's they could work with... This is the only very minor complaint I have, because the artists they are working with are of a very high quality. The beats are as brilliant as you would expect. Wjhat we have is an hour of real Hip Hop - all killers, no fillers. Do not miss this one!!!

Cro-Magnon :
