Description

When we signed Bosq's Tumbala featuring Puerto Rican legend Tempo Alomar on vocals last year we knew that it was a multi-cultural masterpiece. We also knew that giving it a boost for the club could take it to a whole other stratosphere. So we enlisted another one of our favorite Multi Culti producers, Auntie Flo to take it for a spin, and boy did he turn out a club jam! It's been a highlight of our sets for months and now is finally available to the world on yellow vinyl, limited to 500 copies worldwide. Originally from Glasgow and now based in London, Auntie Flo has been on our radar for a long time with amazing afro sounds first on his Highlife label, and then expanding to Cuba and beyond with his incredible World Series. It's an honor to have him on Soul Clap Records and here's what he had to say about the remix, "Every remix I do I try to pay respect to the original and this was no different. The parts, in particular percussion recordings were amazing to work with so it made my job loads easier. I've been playing these out for at least 6 months, including with Gilles Peterson on BBC6 Music and response has been huge!!" In addition to Auntie Flo's Tumbala Remix and Dub, the vinyl also includes a spaced out remix of Because You by Bosq's (and our!) mastering engineer, Boston secret weapon Caserta, who said "Seeing as I worked closely with Bosq when I mixed and mastered the original Tumbala EP, I already had a certain type of closeness to Because You. The main thing I didn't want to do was screw it up! However, I quickly realized that a Danielle Moore vocal and a Roland RE-201 Space Echo really couldn't add up wrong (laughing). The rest seemed to fall into place from there."
